Greeters welcome you

Visitors witness

Merci beaucoup!

Lucie Léger – Canada
A true highlight.

Patrick showed us around the Bois de Bologne neighborhood. It was a high light of our trip to Paris to meet someone who lives there and to see an area we wouldn’t have necessarily seen if it wasn’t for him. He treated us to a coffee as he said every Parisienne starts the day with. It was such a pleasure meeting with him. Thanks so much.

Choose a city in ‘Ile de France’ region and register for a Greet

It is the occasion to see Paris as it is really known by its locals, to discover neighbourhoods that visitors would not have imagined or dared to visit.
These encounters enable Paris Greeters to achieve its aim: to change the traditional view that tourists have of Parisians and their city.

You are kindly invited to discover Boulogne, located just on the outskirts of the capital, the largest city in the Ile-de-France region, after Paris. A city rich in cultural treasures as, for example the Albert Kahn Museum and its gardens, homes or buildings designed by leading architects of their time: Le Corbusier, Mallet Stevens, Auguste Perret, Fisher…A city which still bears witness to the life of times gone by.

Do you dream of a breath of fresh air close to Paris? The forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye covers 3,500 hectares and will satisfy your desires. From Philippe-Auguste to Louis XIV, Saint-Germain-en-Laye was the holiday resort of many kings of France, as well as writers, musicians and artists of renown! Come and feel the pulse of the City.

In the visitor’s eyes, the name Versailles evokes the golden glitter and magical sparkle of the Hall of Mirrors. But not every visitor is aware that the city around the palace, was designed at the same time, as a sumptuous setting for the famous palace…
Please sign-up and give your wishes and centers of interest. A greeter will come back to you with a walk proposal… Enjoy your stay in Versailles with a local friend !

Find the small village of Rueil, which despite its proximity to Paris and La Défense has retained its charm before. Our greeters will make you discover the secret alleys and green parks that once hosted famous characters … It even seems that we can meet the imperial couple Napoleon and Josephine!

These are 9000 years of a history that begins with the prehistoric man in the plain of Issy, continues in the Middle Ages with the monks of Saint-Germain, reached its peak in the seventeenth century with the presence of the grandees of the Court, like the famous “Queen Margot”. The city is ideally located along the Seine.

Paris Greeters – A stroll in small streets of Ménilmontant-Belleville

Greeters : How does it work?

Do you have a Greet catalog?

No, you give us your dates and your centers of interest and we make you, in return, a proposal for a walk.
In some cities or regions, you can choose a theme or a greeter.

Wat is the visitor group size during the Greet?

Our greeters walks are limited to groups of up to 6 people. Often the group is smaller and includes people who travel together: 2 to 4 people on average.

What is the cost for a Greet?

Our greeters are volunteers and the greets are free.
If you are satisfied, your donations will be welcome. They will be used to finance the organization of the walks and our communication.

Greeters vs tour guides

Greeters do not have the skills of tour guides, they are simply locals who know their city well and want to welcome you and answer your questions during a cultural exchange during a walk in the city or in the vicinity. We would know, according to your interests, to address you to the professional guides that we know, to deepen your knowledge on the heritage.

How your requests are manager?

As soon as your registration is completed and validated, with your wishes for date (s) and language (s) of the Greet, you will receive an acknowledgment of receipt. Then your request will be presented to our Greeters and you will receive a proposal. It’s up to you to accept or not, to modify your request or to cancel it. Once you have accepted a proposal from a Greeter you are in contact (mail and phone) with him. After the walk, you will be asked, by email, your assessment.

How to make a donation?

At the time of the Greet evaluation, you will be asked, if you wish, to make a donation. You will also be able to share your comment on the greeters walk with your Facebook and twitter friends.
